We are excited to announce the new role of Practice Manager in our organisation. Our SAP Finance & Logistics department has grown large enough to be run as its own practice.
The Practice Manager role is a new diverse and exciting role in K5 Business with many responsibilities and opportunities. It's an all-encompassing role, effectively running a business unit. This means that you'll have a large degree of autonomy, allowing you to do it your way, as long as the overall objectives of the business are met. The role is what you make of it, and therefore the success of the department will depend greatly on you and your style of leadership.
Within groupelephant.com, a Practice Manager has a great deal of exposure to the group's global leadership, and is supported by a network of affiliates in the group, allowing you to extend your capability, increase your exposure and build your professional network. While the role is demanding, it's one that offers a plethora of diverse and engaging prospects.
As an important function of succession planning and career development, you must effectively delegate responsibility to your staff without abdicating accountability. For example, while one of your responsibilities is to write proposals from time to time, you may choose to get one or more staff members to do this for you. Similarly, you may get a staff member to review a legal agreement, assist with budgeting, review CV's, interview candidates, mentor a junior, and so on.
This is a senior role in the organisation, and you will form part of K5 Business' Executive Committee. This is a unique opportunity to develop executive leadership skills.
This is not a pure "management role" - you will still be required to engage in SAP consulting activity, advisory services, project managements, etc. You will have lower target billable hours than most other roles in the organisation, allowing you time to manage your practice.
To give an indication of what the role entails, think about it as running your own business, but with the support of others that have done it before. This means that you'll be involved in almost all aspects of business - budgeting and finance, sales forecasts, resource planning, business development, service delivery management, legal review, recruiting, staff management, operations, etc.
The role is remote, but depends on client requirements, as some clients do prefer onsite presence. Although not an absolute requirement, candidates residing in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa will take preference.
Below are some examples of key functions for the role:
