Main duties and responsibilitiesNew projects/Upgrades and maintenance:
Give advice to relevant plant responsible persons on upgrading old fire systems.
Plan maintenance on fire systems in conjunction with plant shutdowns.
To arrange plant visits, meetings and site inspections.
Compile a complete scope of works regarding the work to be done.
Attend project meetings.
Discuss proposals for new systems and upgrade of old systems
Communicate with all parties involved.
Coordinate all activities and ensure work commences and is completed according to target dates.
Consistently inspect work and progress of contractors.
Commission the system on completion to verify performance and efficiency.
Ensure all drawings are done and updated.
Administration:
Compile capexs where needed.
Load purchase request.
Load waybills for maintenance of fire equipment.
Expedite Request/orders loaded with the buyer.
Register safety/maintenance job cards for plant repair sections.
Execute job cards loaded against Emergency Services.
Load job cards loaded against Emergency Services.
Ensure a technical specification is in place for each material item code
Keep maintenance progress updated
Keep People soft activity list updated
Coordinating AFST and other contractors:
Maintain stock levels of spares.
Coordinate all scheduled inspections.
Keep record of scheduled inspections and monthly reports from AFST.
Sign off job cards.
Schedule daily meetings with AFST.
Print Faults and relevant sub-standard sheets for AFST to address and comment on the form of corrections done.
Inspection One Barcode system.
System administrator and manager
Create specific fire items (equipment) to schedule for inspections
Link plant allocated equipment to each Fire officer and schedule inspection frequency
Receive daily deviations and attend to
Draw reports to see progressive executions and specific deviations logged by individuals
Attend all fire incident investigations:
Ensure system upgrades and new systems to meet corrective action needs.
Adhoc
Day shift worker which may change as operational needs arise:
Current working hours are: 07:15 - 16:00
Perform all ad hoc duties as requested by the Team Manager.
Attend to all emergencies, fire, rescue and medical assistance.
Stand in for Emergency officers who are absent with leave, sick, training etc.Firefighting Experience: Minimum 6 years of which 2 must be at grade 08 level. Ideal 7 years experience.
Hazmat incidents.
Medical response and assistance.
Rope rescue.
Fire systems and portable fire equipment.
Commissioning of fire systems.
Conduct training: Fire and Hazmat.
Project Management, minimum 1 year and ideal 2 years experiencePrimary Qualification:
Grade 12
National Diploma in Fire Technology or Diploma for SAESI or IFE. Basic Ambulance Assistant (Internal) and AEA (External)
Hazmat Operational and, Technician
Fire Man Certificate or Firefighter 1 & 2
Rope Technician level 1&2
Ideal QualificationAEA/Intermediate Life supportA Code C1 (10) drivers licence (PDrP)
