Job Description


Job PurposeTo assist with the conceptualizing, growth and execution of an active African portfolio management function for the Agricultural Commodities business Debt Finance in Nedbank CIB. Incumbent needs to be proficient with bank portfolio theory and have strong quantitative analytical background. Candidate will be required to use his/her extensive existing network and relationships in the Trading, Secondary Processing and Primary Import and Export sectors in Agriculture across the African Continent to selectively manage and grow the Investment Banking balance sheet.To assist with the conceptualizing, growth and execution of an active African portfolio management function for the Agricultural Commodities business Debt Finance in Nedbank CIB. Grow and manage the Agricultural Commodity Portfolio through high quality Client Acquisition with specific focus on onboarding of reputable and Top 5 Players in the respective industries and geographies. Perform portfolio analytics on of the Investment Banking balance sheet and produce reports wherein the positive impacts to the Portfolio are illustrated and likewise stress tested with the intention to get value added micro economic impact forecasting.
Managed Stakeholder Relationships
Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders by networking, fostering collaboration, regular communication, site visits, pitching ideas and complying with governance and controls. Show knowledge of a wide range of Banking Products through profitable and sustainable cross-sell of earnings-accretive offerings spanning across Nedbank Africa Regions, Nedbank Representative Offices and Ecobank.
Managed Internal Processes
Ensure compliance by sanctions checking and adhering to regulations, policies and procedures (FICA, Internal and Environmental). Manage deal implementation by structuring, negotiating and attending to legal matters & Conditions Precedent (CP).
Managed Self
Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in the field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers. Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed, experience practiced, and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames. Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred CertificationsQuantitative Degree at a Masters level, Chartered Accountant (SA) or Chartered Financial AnalystExtensive knowledge of the Agriculture and Trade related impact of changes to the crops, markets, players and inter dependencies in the cultivation, trading, storage and secondary processing links in the agricultural value chains on the African Continent.Minimum Experience Level8 - 12 years relevant sector / industry experience with strong relationships with Governing bodies and Captains of IndustryTechnical / Professional Knowledge
