If you have an aptitude for analysis of complex economic or legal issues and are interested in joining our dedicated team of competition practitioners at a senior level, the Competition Commission invites you to apply for the position of Principal Analyst: Mergers & Acquisitions.A starting annual total cost to company package of R 1 498 582.40 (negotiable commensurate with experience)
Five-year fixed term contract, renewableKey Responsibilities:Duties include, amongst others:

• To lead, supervise and provide guidance to a team of merger analysts.
• To investigate merger cases and make recommendations to decision makers.
• To design and monitor merger conditions.
• To conduct research and provide advice to decision makers on the economic impact of mergers
• To assist with strategic planning, management and general administration of the Division.

Minimum Requirements:We are looking for a diligent and committed individual who has:

• An LLM or Masters degree in economics
• At least 8 years work experience in complex economic and legal analysis of which 2 years must have been at a supervisory/managerial level.

Competencies Required

• Demonstrable understanding of competition law/economics and merger control
• Management/supervisory experience
• Excellent written, verbal, communication, and negotiation skills
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills
