We have an exciting position for a Principal Security & Intelligence who will lead the Security and Intelligence function required to protect all Kumba Iron Ore sites including security technology and implement Security and Intelligence best practices.

Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects - exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

As Principal Security & Intelligence you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Consistently apply safety and health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Lead the Intelligence efforts for Kumba.
  • Ensures that Kumba management and (where appropriate) key partners receive the necessary intelligence to allow them to make the right decisions to keep staff and operations safe.
  • Provide a single source of truth for security initiatives across Kumba functions.
  • Develop the successful exploitation of data and IT within the Intelligence Centre.
  • Build a process to oversee the analysis, assessment, and dissemination of intelligence security.
  • Oversee the intelligence collection processes.
  • Run change management and communication program to onboard security and other relevant Kumba functions, with the support of the General Manager's.
  • Drive all Security key actions from initiative initiation until implementation (initiative owners to implement), including initiative definition, allocation to P&O function, prioritisation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Run change management and communication program to onboard security function and other relevant Kumba functions (e.g., Corporate Affairs, and P&O).
This role is in the Safety & Sustainable Development (SSD) at a Band 5 level reporting to Head of SHE.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree/National Diploma/ B Tech Security Management or Policing, or related qualification (Prescribed) .
  • Postgraduate qualification in Security Management (Preferred).
  • Registration with PSIRA A Grade (Prescribed).
  • SA Driver's License.
  • No Criminal Record.
  • Pass the Polygraph Test.
Experience
  • Knowledge of Data analysis.
  • Exposure to new technologies and how they impact on intelligence activities.
  • Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance and the impact of disruption on Kumba's operations .
  • Aware of legislative changes concerning tailings management.
  • Basic financial metrics, cost, and value management and budgeting tools.
