This role will manage the Risk Centre of Excellence in the VFDS business and will be responsible for:

  • Development, maintenance and implementation of the risk management framework, policies, standards, key risk indicator dashboards, guidelines and toolkits that supports and aligns to the organisation risk strategy and appetite.
  • Development of models and templates to create customer/product risk profiles and enable proactive and focussed risk management initiatives.
  • Risk management knowledge sharing between the Governance, Risk and Compliance function and key Vodacom Financial Services stakeholders to enhance and maintain a risk focused culture.
  • Liaising with other Vodacom Group and Vodafone departments and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure risks are identified and mitigation controls are implemented.
  • Research in the field of risk management to maintain expert knowledge of industry best practice locally and across other fintech markets.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and maintain the Vodacom Financial Services risk management framework, policies, standards and guidelines as well as facilitate knowledge transfer within Vodacom Financial Services.
  • Develop customized risk models and toolkits to proactively identify risk and enable proactive risk management at a business unit level and aggregate this to a VFDS business level.
  • Engage with the internal business, analytics and data science teams to develop and enhance reports and triggers that identify and reduce risk exposure including fraud and financial crime.
  • Ensure that risks, controls and vulnerabilities are clearly recorded, mitigated and communicated to the Vodacom Financial Services Executive Commitee.
  • To proactively develop and improve internal procedures and reports linked to financial crime, fraud, AML and compliance risk across multiple platforms including e-commerce, digital payments, e-wallets and other digital products and services.
  • To keep abreast with financial services industry best practise and implement (where applicable) to remain relevant and on par with competitors.
  • To be results driven, work under pressure, with a high degree of versatility, independence, focus and accuracy.
The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:Must have technical / professional qualifications:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an analytical or commercial discipline or risk management.
  • Additional professional relevant certification will be an advantage.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years' business experience of which 5 years needs to be within a risk management environment in a financial services/fintech company (essential).
  • Have in-depth knowledge of risk management processes within financial services/fintech as it relates to e-commerce, online payments and digital wallets (essential)
  • Managing of key stakeholder and reporting to various stakeholders include Executive Committee, Audit and Board members. (essential)
  • Exposure to risk modelling, payments, and financial settlement and reconciliation procedures (essential)
  • Exposure to broader compliance and legal knowledge is an advantage.
