Job Description


Our client in the Food and Beverages industry is looking for a Procurement and Logistics Manager to manage all non-fruit related procurement (Fertilizer, Transport, Packing Material, Ingredients etc.) to ensure lowest cost, at the correct quality while maintaining reliable supply.Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain procurement strategies per sub-category to ensure lowest cost and top performance over the short term and into the long term
  • Perform medium to long term planning with suppliers to align growth
  • Identify supplier and supply chain risks that would put assured supply at low cost and required quality in jeopardy in the short, medium and longer term, and develop risk mitigation strategies and plans, which will include contingency plans for sole suppliers or sole supplying plants, audits, performance reviews to mention a few.
  • Provide input into overall SCM strategies and plans, including planning, quality and projects.
  • Develop and maintain a KPI scorecard system to track the performance of the categories and the category management team. KPI's to manage warehousing and logistics to be developed and tracked.
  • Develop the team members' capabilities in category management, strategic sourcing, and commercial understanding/negotiation, to drive down cost at every opportunity whilst ensuring reliable supply at the required quality.

  • Prioritize the work of team members to ensure focus and the achievement of the SCM strategies, plans and goal.
  • Support the Head of Operations with Supply Chain Council meeting preparation and plans, to ensure effective council meetings and involvement.
  • Drive strong support for the category management team and the broader operational team, through delivering results and performance from the suppliers, supply chain and team members
  • Execute the category plans and goal results for categories led i.e., Fertilizer, Packaging, Chemicals
  • Implement appropriate account management practices across the supply base - which include audits, management reviews, performance and risk management
  • Lead strategic supply projects - i.e. New fertilizer supplier, New PPE providers etc.
  • Maintain good supplier /contract manufacturer relationships
  • Working with various departments to jointly understand and resolve procurement/supply issues
  • Work jointly with Quality to establish approved supplier list and to approve new suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business or related
  • 5 -8 years experience in Supply Chain, with 3 years at a Senior Management Level, with the responsibility of direct reports.
  • Experience in identifying cost saving and driving down costs with a track record of total cost savings
  • Experience in managing food and packaging and/or fertilizer categories
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in managing contract manufacturers
  • Experience in managing warehousing (raw material and finished goods)
  • Experience in optimizing and managing logistics
