We provide high-quality products and exceptional service to ensure that vessels are well-stocked and ready to sail. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Food and Beverage Buyer/Operator to join our Cape Town branch located in Gordons Bay.Position Overview:As a Food and Beverage Operator you will receive quote requests from potential clients, process those requests in a timely manner and return the quotes to the potential client. You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing quality food and beverage products from reliable suppliers to supply ships coming to port in Cape Town and Saldanha. Your role will be to negotiate pricing to achieve cost-effective purchasing, converting quotes under time constraints, creating purchase orders and ensuring in-time order fulfilment.Key Responsibilities:Sourcing and Purchasing: Identify and engage reliable suppliers to source high-quality food and beverage products suitable for ships requests.Negotiation and Pricing: Utilize strong negotiation skills to secure favourable terms and pricing with suppliers.Quote Conversion: Quickly convert quotes and process orders under time constraints to meet the needs of ships docking at port.Order Management: Create and manage purchase orders, place orders with suppliers, and oversee the delivery of products.Receiving and Verification: Check that items received match purchase orders and meet quality standards. Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues.Collaboration: Work effectively with colleagues, including logistics and management teams, to align procurement with operational needs.Organizational Skills: Maintain organized records of orders, supplier information, and inventory to ensure smooth operations.Qualifications:Education:High School - Grade 12 (Matric)Ability to commute:Gordons Bay, Western Cape, own reliable transport.Experience:Proven experience in food and beverage purchasing, procurement, or a related role within the hospitality industry.Strong communication skills and experience managing supplier relationships.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to handle data and spreadsheets effectively.Ability to manage orders quickly under pressure.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.Innovative thinking & willingness to explore new products, suppliers, and trends to keep the food and beverage offerings fresh and competitive.How to Apply:If you are a skilled and motivated professional with a passion for food and beverage procurement and experience working with maritime clients, a bonus, we want to hear from you.
