Job Description


A leading global pharmaceutical company has a vacancy for a Procurement Manager within their Manufacturing department. The position is office based (full-time) and his no direct reports.Position Summary and Objective
Responsible for the procurement of products and goods by identifying potential supplier sources, vendor screening and negotiating favorable payment terms, and monitoring supplier performance.
Ensure orders are authorised according to the correct signing power levels.
Responsible for the procurement activities for the Isando plant (manufacturing).Primary Responsibilities
Source raw and packaging materials according to specifications set by QA.
Negotiates prices with suppliers to ensure the best possible costs utilising RFQs and category plans.
Manages supplier issues and queries to ensure they are appropriately resolved and build supplier relationships.
Ensures supplier relationships are maintained to obtain optimum service levels from the same.
Liaises with all internal stakeholders regarding any issues which delay stock delivery.
Procurement of all required packaging materials and raw materials from approved vendors.
Raises orders in line with planned production and disseminates to the suppliers.
Circulates orders for required signatures prior to release.
Ensures orders are delivered on time and to the correct location via follow-ups with suppliers.
Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers.
Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers.
Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production.
Process purchase orders to acquire goods
Work closely with the legal department to ensure contract terms are favorable to the company
Attend meetings with the legal team, engineering team, vendors, and suppliers
Communicates any API/IPI issues regarding supply interruption or cessation to R.A. and all other stakeholders.
Liaise with all internal stakeholders ITO any disruptions in the supply of materials.
Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries.
Keeping suppliers informed of any changes required and ensuring adherence to same.
Investigate technology improvements ITO spend area, for suitability in the plant.
Ensure stocks are delivered where and when required on time in full (OTIF)
Develop strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met.
Sources new suppliers where necessary to increase competition and increase negotiation leverage.
Responsible for managing monthly expenditures and tracking against budget, as well as implementing cost-saving initiatives.
Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Responsible for all procurement-related projects related to cost-effective purchases, whilst ensuring the companys quality control processes are maintained.
The deputy will only assist in the absence of the Procurement Manager with the day-to-day management of procurement activities conducted for the plant.Minimum Requirements
Relevant qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement or Equivalent.
Minimum 5 - 7 years experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Knowledge of planning, scheduling, and production activities.
Completed ADR training on Best Purchasing Practices.
IPSA Packaging Technology.Key Knowledge and Skills required
Ability to motivate suppliers to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
Good planning and organization skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, at all levels.
Accustomed to working in a highly pressured environment.
Results-driven, self-motivated with facilitation skills
Planning and Organising skills.
MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
