industry is looking for a skilled
Procurement Officer / Senior Buyer
to oversee procurement and inventory control. This role plays a key part in maintaining optimal stock levels, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for
managing and overseeing procurement functions, inventory control, and supplier negotiations
. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, experience in supplier management, and a keen eye for optimising stock levels to improve service delivery and reduce excess inventory.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the procurement process, including placing and tracking orders with suppliers.
Oversee inventory control, conducting regular stock spot checks and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Negotiate pricing and supplier agreements to secure the best possible deals.
Monitor supplier stock levels, shortages, special offers, and outstanding orders.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date data entry into QuickBooks and maintain inventory-related Excel schedules.
Assist the Creditors department with invoice matching, delivery notes, and supplier statements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, staying updated on their pricing, products, and market activities.
Stay informed about competitor pricing and market trends to ensure competitive purchasing.
Requirements
3+ years of experience in
procurement, supply chain, or inventory management
.
Experience in a
manufacturing or distribution environment
is highly advantageous.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Proficiency in
QuickBooks
and
Excel
for data management and reporting.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
