Production Manager - AutomotivePort Elizabeth - Eastern CapeOur client in the automotive industry requires an experienced Production Manager to supervise and coordinate the production teams and guide them in the production of the product required.Duties:

• Analyses work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
• Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules and requisitions materials from storage area.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders with assistance from supporting departments.
• Interfaces with others in the organizations to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
• Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
• Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
• Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost and cycle times.
• Manages plant efficiency and productivity and plans working hours and labour accordingly. This includes management of overtime.
• Effectively manages balance builds and leftovers as well as production driven Prod Var metrics to required targets and expectations.
• Ensures plant OAE targets are achieved.
• Responsible for production 5S expectations to requirements
• Manages and controls supply cost and MRO spend budgets for production department.

• 4 years Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or production management.
• Black Belt certified would be an advantage
• 4 years + progressive engineering / production experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of Project Management and Manufacturing / Office software.
• Willing to travel is part of the job requirement.
