Production ManagerLocation: Somerset West, Cape TownSalary: Up to R780k per annumAbout the Role:The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the manufacturing of the products, playing a key role in guiding and leading the production team to ensure efficient operations and high-quality output. This position is based at Production in Somerset West, reporting into the Operations Manager.Requirements:Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Mechatronic (Degree preferred)At least 8 years' experience in a production environmentExperience in Project ManagementSound understanding of inventory and Bills of MaterialProduct design through innovation and assist with modifications and suggestionsMechanical design & drawings: Experience in mechanical drawings and the use of relevant drawing software.Production management software: Experience with CIN7 or similar software to manage all aspects of productionStrategic thinking with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.Strong stakeholder management and decision-making capabilities.Tech-savvy with proficiency in MS Office and quick adaptability to new software.Solid technical knowledge of hardware components and specifications.Excellent multitasking skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.Solution-focused mindset with a proactive, can-do attitude.Responsibilities:Procurement of high-quality components and goods that are necessary to productsSourcing, qualification and management of suppliers.Building good relationships with suppliers.Ensuring that the quality of goods received is verified through the necessary means such as inspection and/or functional testing.Maintaining minimum stock levels.Keeping track of which components are being used for various productions runs.Having a good grasp on warranty periods of various key components.Performing regular stock takes.Ensuring correct stock picking procedures are adhered to.Tasking, managing and training of personnel to ensure correct assembly of components.Ensuring the right production personnel are allocated to the right tasks during production.Management, improvement and implementation of quality control systems.Ensuring the appropriate inspection and testing of products during and after assembly phase.Functional testing of products and components as required.Ensuring that quality related documentation is in place.Packaging & shipping (local and international)Have a good understanding of local and international sea and air freight including customs to ensure correct decision making.Building and maintaining good relationships with freight forwarding companies.Ensuring an efficient and motivated production force.Ensuring enough personnel capacity for current and upcoming production runs.Planning and prioritization of tasks.Identifying training needs and implementation thereof.Delegating tasks to the correct personnel.Working with product managers to source and build prototypes.Designing and performing relevant testing of such prototypes.Failure investigations & corrective actionsKeeping a record of component failures.Ensuring failure process is followed and associated documentation in place.Ensuring failure investigations are performed, root causes established, and corrective actions are implemented.Documentation: Ensuring all documentation is in place, including up-to-date information on Cin7, in all aspects of production.Communication: Ensuring fast and effective communication with the many internal and external stakeholders of production.
