Job Summary Our client is a leading and innovative soft fruit farm , with a farm in Hermanus. They are looking for passionate and motivated Production Manager to be based in their Hermanus branch. Key Responsibilities: Field Establishment: Develop a 10ha soil strawberry project within our planting deadlines for 1 year with rapid expansion plans to follow. All executed to high standards. Irrigation: Execute on precision irrigation using loggers and having a good feel for plants. Here a high urgency index is crucial. Nutrition: Accurate application of a fertigation regime applied throughout the season. Sampling and nutrient trending administered to ensure plants produce optimally. Pest & Disease Management: Manage scouts and a IPM monitoring system. Ensure preventative biological and chemical sprays applied on time to ensure yield losses. Farm Maintenance: Farm is always kept tidy, weeds under control and roads and drainage well managed. Finance: Write and manage your own budget. Then beat it. Qualifications & Experience: Btech or Bachelor's degree in horticulture or plant science. Requires 3+ years' experience in vegetable or strawberry growing. 5+ years senior management experience within the agriculture sector. Hands-on soil Irrigation experience essential. Knowledge of basic plant physiology, entomology and pathology will be beneficial. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be self-motivated and have a positive attitude. Must strive towards precision and attention to detail. Results focussed with a high urgency level. Area: Hermanus. Starting Date: URGENT, as soon as possible.
