Must have a relevant tertiary qualification related to manufacturing, quality, or engineering
Minimum 10+ years experience in FMCG manufacturing, ideally within cut vegetables, produce, and salad
Experience in managing a production team producing vegetables/salads/flowers/fresh produce for top FMCG players in South Africa is advantageous; an understanding of the quality needed to supply these customers would be greatly beneficial
Strong background in operational management and industrial engineering principles is essential
Proven experience with lean manufacturing and driving continuous improvement
Demonstrated ability to manage and report using KPIs effectively
Extensive experience in managing teams with strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills
Must have a basic understanding of financial and costing reports
Strong computer literacy with advanced Excel skills is essential
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the production team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Implementing and driving lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitoring and managing production KPIs to ensure targets are being achieved and reported accurately.
Overseeing operational processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards and optimizing workflows.
Managing budgets and financial performance within the production department.
Resolving team conflicts and maintaining a productive work environment.
Ensuring compliance with safety, hygiene, and industry regulations.
