Job Summary
Main role is to lead the Production team to achieve output while maintaining safety & food safety standards. Achieving all goals set for production with the assistance of support functions and never compromising the culture & value principles set out by the company.
Operational Deliverables (Key Tasks)Ensure all resources are available to Production leads
Active visibility on production floor
Ensure Production employees is trained & competent in all production related functions
Ensure all food safety requirements are met (maintain system)
Update all lost time
Ensure reduction in repeated lost time
Fault finding & repairing equipment
Ensure discipline action is actioned on time & notice misconduct (for example trends)
Ensure all people related issues reported by leading hands are dealt with
Ensuring Output vs Target is reached daily for production plants
Ensuring staff compliment is planned in depending on fluctuation of demand
Ensure startup times are maintained
Completion of SAP functions
Adhere to all systems Safety & Food safety and make sure it is implemented on the production floor
Investigate & correct all near misses & incidents
Visibility on floor especially during breakdowns
Ensure all equipment is inspected and fit for use post maintenance or service
Make sure staff is properly utilized during stoppages (cleaning, training or alternative production)
Assisting in trouble shooting
Report on breakdowns
Ensure proper shift hand overs
Maintain cost saving initiatives
Work together with team to resolve all bottlenecks
Shift and week end work
Knowledge sharing to improve the team
Developing technical skill of teams
Innovating thinking to eliminate hazards & improve site continuously
Responsibility & AuthorityEnsure all related site policies are implemented and maintained
Maintain all safety & food safety standards
Lead the team to maintain culture & value principles
General tasksDo auditing when requested (operational and safety audits).
Participate in Gemba walk programme
Implementation of 6S
Actively participate in Engagement action plans and events
Assist operations team with Problem solving
Food Safety ResponsibilityAdhere & maintain all food safety standards
Make sure food safety systems are maintained always
Guide the team on the right first time principle & make sure there in no compromise on food safety rules
Ensure records are maintained always
Operational Safety RequirementsAdhere to all safety instructions, signage & policies
Show FELT leadership always
Conduct all operations in a safe manner as per operational procedures
Active participation in all safety-related initiatives and emergency drills
Requirements: (qualifications and experience)Matric (Grade 12) certificate required
Min 5 years' experience in production, preferably Food Industry
Qualification in a relevant field such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or Industrial Technology.
Knowledge of good manufacturing practices
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable.
Computer literacy - Microsoft office/Excel/PowerPoint
Good communication skills - Written & Spoken
Good Organizational skills
Forklift license or willingness to obtain one
