VACANCY: PROFESSIONAL NURSE

We are looking for a Professional Nurse to join our Nursing Team at Fish Hoek ElderCare. The incumbent will be responsible for the Nursing function for Nerina Gardens (one of our Facilities).

The successful incumbent will be responsible for all nursing care on shift and ensuring residents have a comprehensive and accurate care plan.

Job Function

To ensure that holistic care is provided to residents and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Provision of Care

Ensure a high standard of nursing care to meet the needs of the residents.

Basic Care

? Assess and develop a nursing care plan for each resident.

? Evaluate and review the effectiveness of the care plan on the resident's health.

? Identify and respond to the needs of the residents.

? Recognise the need for action, considering possible risks, and take responsibility for the outcomes.

Medication

? Dispense medication and other therapy as per Doctor's orders.

? Check and record medication received and administered.

Nutrition

? Ensure diets are given as per care plan.

? Monitor fluid balance, elimination status and nutritional state.

Stimulation

? Develop activities for residents.

? Implement mobility / exercise and activity program for all residents.

Relationship Development

? Maintain communication with residents' families regarding any changes / emergencies.

? Build relationships and liaise as necessary with HealthCare professionals.

? Facilitate good relationships and communication with colleagues and junior staff.

Leadership and Management of Team

? Provide oversight as the most senior person available across the wards.

? Supervise and coordinate Caregivers.

? Delegate duties within the scope of practice.

? Provide on-going training and development of staff.

? Utilise correct channels of communication to resolve conflicts, problems and grievances.

? Lead the team in emergency procedures.

Reporting

? Ensure required records are maintained on a daily basis.

? Communicate accurate information to affected parties both verbally and in writing.

? Participate in meetings as required.

Management

? Implement infection control measures as appropriate.

? Ensure privacy, confidentiality and safety of residents, their property and reputation.

? Prevent abuse, victimisation or discrimination and report as required.

? Maintain nursing supplies inventory through stock control.

Qualifications

Education

? B Cur Degree / Diploma in General Nursing

Experience

? 6 years post qualification experience working as Professional Nurse in hospitals and aged care facility.

? Experience with the elderly.

? Up to date SANC Registration

? Covid Vaccination
