To provide best practice, data collection, clinical assessments, and collection of specimens (cord and maternal blood) according to different study protocols
To ensure that this is done with accordance to site Standard Operating Procedures

Key performance areas:
Inform participants about the study
Verify consent status prior to conducting any study procedures
Draw blood, cord blood from participants, and maternal serum samples, process samples as required and specified within the protocol and laboratory manuals, and send samples/specimens to the laboratory OR ensure they are properly stored
Biological sample collection as per study requirement other than blood samples, if applicable
Obtain vital signs and other special investigations as per study guidance.
Conduct pre and post-HIV and Hepatitis B test Counselling (if needed)
Provide appropriate health education and counseling where necessary
Communicate participant management to site-based staff in a timely manner adhering to ALOCOA principles
Collect participant data from medical notes and complete source document
Document necessary procedures, sample collection, and data collection details in relevant source documents adhering to GCP principles
Completion of source documents accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain full clinical records for all participants
Maintain an adequate inventory of laboratory samples (both electronic and hard copy, as required)
Perform sample-related activities such as but not limited to labeling, storage, collection, storing, and completion of DCFs
Compile relevant reports and feedback on all activities
Quality control study documents
administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Report on Protocol Deviations that occurred in different studies
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
Take ownership of driving your own career development by attending training and development sessions and relevant
Perform tasks based on the protocol training provided, take accountability, and document this training
Required minimum education and training:
Diploma in General Nursing (Midwifery)
A valid driver's license
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 3 years experience in Midwifery
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in HIV
Research experience would be advantageous
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Working experience with maternal and pediatric participants will be an advantage
Ordered and systematic with strict compliance to protocols
Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint
Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Sound work ethic and good self-management skills
