Job Description


Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet the required standards of quality, safety, and compliance. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in assessing the quality of materials, workmanship, and procedures in various construction projects, ensuring that they align with regulatory requirements and client specifications.Key Responsibilities:Cost Estimation and Budgeting:xc2xb7 Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.xc2xb7 Develop and maintain budgets throughout the project lifecycle.xc2xb7 Analyse and report on project costs and financial performance.Contract Management:xc2xb7 Draft and review contract documents, including terms and conditions.xc2xb7 Administer contracts and manage changes to scope, cost, and schedule.xc2xb7 Handle claims and disputes related to contractual issues.Procurement:xc2xb7 Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors.xc2xb7 Prepare and issue requests for quotations and tenders.xc2xb7 Analyze bids and recommend contractors or suppliers.Cost Control and Monitoring:xc2xb7 Monitor and control project costs to prevent overruns.xc2xb7 Conduct cost analysis and forecasting.xc2xb7 Prepare periodic cost reports and financial statements.Site Visits and Inspections:xc2xb7 Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure adherence to specifications.xc2xb7 Measure and record quantities of work completed for payment purposes.xc2xb7 Identify and address any issues related to cost or quality on site.Documentation and Reporting:xc2xb7 Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and documentation.xc2xb7 Prepare detailed reports on cost and financial performance for stakeholders.xc2xb7 Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.Client and Stakeholder Communication:xc2xb7 Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.xc2xb7 Provide advice and recommendations on cost-related issues.xc2xb7 Address client inquiries and resolve any issues related to cost and contracts.Qualifications:xc2xb7 Bachelors degree in, Quantity Surveying, or a related field and professional registration with SACQSPxc2xb7 Minimum of 4 years of experience in experience in the contracting and consulting environmentxc2xb7 Relevant certifications and registrations, proven track record of projects engagedSkills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.xc2xb7 Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.xc2xb7 Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.xc2xb7 Familiarity with quality control tools and methodologies.xc2xb7 Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.Competencies:xc2xb7 Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including engineers, project managers, and contractors.xc2xb7 Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.xc2xb7 Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.xc2xb7 Commitment to maintaining integrity and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
