Each network delivers a relevant combination of training, internships, fellowships, mentorship, employer engagement and events to foster collective impact through the community.About AL for EducationAfrican Leaders (AL) for Education is a growing network of school leaders, founders and aspirant education professionals who work to foster excellence in African education, and who are demonstrably improving learning outcomes for African children. These leaders are driving the conversation about what young Africans should know and be able to do, and how young education leaders must be organized to achieve those outcomes. They are building and testing these ideas and sharing lessons in ways that help others implement their learning. To enable this, AL for Education operates programs that seek to advance learning outcomes in communities across the African continent. These include a fellowship accelerator for school founders, an early career apprenticeship program and an annual gathering - amongst others. The program brings exceptional talent into Africa's education sector and supports the advancement of extraordinary schools serving communities across Africa. The program aims to harness a broad, pan-African network and transmit learnings to amplify its impact on education in Africa.About the roleThe ALforEducation Sector is looking to hire a Program Administrator to help deliver on our core activities including our internship and job placements for ALA alumni and our many development programs for education leaders. The Program Associate will work closely with the team to deliver quality support to our members and our growing network of education change-makers.Primary Responsibilities

  • Support in cultivating talent pipelines for alumni interested in pursuing careers in education, providing them with tailored support and resources.
  • Support in identifying job and internship opportunities and effectively promoting these opportunities to our alumni. This includes managing application processes, screening candidates, and facilitating placements.
  • Offer personalized career coaching and guidance to alumni seeking to make a meaningful impact in the education sector.
  • Foster connections with students passionate about education by understanding their career goals, organizing educational workshops, curating speaker series with faculty, and showcasing diverse career paths in education.
  • Ensure the integrity of our alumni database through regular data maintenance, updating Salesforce with placement information and partnership engagements, and meticulously documenting network interactions from events and programs.
  • Oversee logistical aspects of ALforEducation initiatives, such as the Aspire and Accelerator Leadership Fellowship, Master Teacher Program, The Gathering, The Catalyst Program and Apprenticeship, including scheduling, travel coordination, financial management, participant communication, and troubleshooting.
  • Curate and distribute a recurring newsletter featuring pertinent education news and opportunities across Africa, engaging our extended network through thorough research, strategic content planning, and robust communication practices.
  • Support special projects, including but not limited to managing the website and run on-campus programming as necessary.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, program management or any other related social science.
  • Consulting or general management background, with experience in communications design preferred.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and produce excellent outputs.
  • Possesses great written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses great organization skills and can manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Passionate about building relationships and networks, especially in the education field.
  • Passionate about education in Africa and eager to learn more about the field.
  • Passionate about supporting young leaders in their careers, and keen to offer coaching and guidance on relevant opportunities and CV development.
