We offer a highly diverse, professional and supportive environment with opportunities for development and growth.Description:The purpose of this position is to provide operational and strategic support for the Social Science Faculty and HOD that will promote scientific excellence and support the development of Social Science research at AHRI. The incumbent will develop and maintain social science initiatives through effective programme management and stakeholder collaboration and contribute to the implementation of the Social Science strategic research goals.Overview of Duties:Overview of DutiesOperational strategy implementation support

  • Assist the Head of Department (HOD) Social Science Core in implementing research governance and participating in implementing the strategic goals of AHRI and the Social Science Core.
  • Contribute to the development of systems that ensure that all research conducted by members of staff, honorary staff, students and individuals who collaborate in research with the Social Science Core conforms to good practice and ethical expectations by raising awareness of the AHRI ethos, research integrity and all related guidelines, SOPs, Codes of Conduct etc.
  • Working closely with the Social Science Core HOD and AHRI Faculty contribute to and develop Social Science research activities across both campuses.
  • Lead the strategic development of Social Science working in partnership with external stakeholders, and Public engagement on ethical issues of relevance
  • Support the Core and scientific staffs response to various research proposals and grant applications.
Performance and outcomes-based monitoring
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of systems and tools for the projects in the Social Science Core
  • Oversee quality assurance activities in collaboration with the Research Coordinators.
  • Management and oversight of the compilation of regular programme performance and data quality reports
  • Oversight of the development of project-specific standard operating best practices and ensure they meet all regulations and that ethical and clinical best practices are followed
Regulatory compliance
  • Ensuring that the execution of projects adheres to protocols and best practices;
  • Supporting PI and other project staff in the development of project-specific standard operating best practices and ensuring they meet all regulations
  • Under the guidance of the HOD manage the Core Risk register and mitigating actions to ensure that the project staff and stakeholders are protected and risks are mitigated
Requirements of the Job
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters in Social Sciences or a related field
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in programme management, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), or related roles
  • Proven ability to build and maintain professional networks and partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data management tools
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
  • Proven experience in grant management
  • Proven experience in drawing up budgets for tenders, grants and research proposals
  • Proficiency in programme management tools and systems
  • Proficiency in programme management tools and systems
  • Proven experience in the management of communication and dissemination of research study findings
  • Proven experience in contributing to reports and peer-reviewed articles
Skills Required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to convey complex information clearly as well as sensitive information.
  • Organizational skills with a keen attention to detail for accuracy and precision.
  • High computer literacy
  • Report writing
  • Familiarity with academic partnerships and funding mechanisms
