To work closely with the Head of Department (HOD), finance team, clinical operations teams and external stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting on all clinical trials and financial success of Wits Clinical Research
Location:
WCR Parktown - Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Manage invoicing processes related to clinical trials with the WHC finance team
Ensure timely payments to vendors, investigators and other trial related entities
Ensure that invoicing for all trials is done within 90 days of a service being complete
Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in billing and payments
Assist with debtors' recovery when required
Liaise with external partners, including CROs, sites, financial institutions to ensure successful invoicing & payments
Provide financial training and guidance to team members as needed
Monitor and track clinical trial expenses against the approved budget
Prepare regular financial reports for accruals/invoicing for senior management
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
Work closely with clinical teams to align financial and budgets specific to a trial
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with clinical trials when appropriate
Assist in audits and monitor visits for financial inspections by sponsors
Work closely with clinical teams to align financial and budgets specific to a trial

Required minimum education and training:
Relevant Diploma or Degree in Finance /Accounting
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a research environment with project and finance administration experience
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of the team
Pro-active and adaptable
Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
Experience working in a research environment
Ordered and systematic with strict compliance to protocols
Tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to operate in a pressurized environment
Maintain diplomacy and confidentiality
