Project Engineer - RandfonteinFull job descriptionWe are looking for a dynamic and skilled Project Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role is pivotal in planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. You will oversee all aspects of project management including coordinating with team members, managing project risk, and ensuring compliance with RCL standards.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEngineering Project Management:Project Planning: Prioritize, schedule, and allocate tasks within the engineering department, collaborating with the planner and plant engineer.Cost Control: Manage the approved budget and ensure financial control over project subcategories.Capex Strategy: Focus on reducing plant downtime and improving machine and line efficiencies.Health and Safety: Ensure new equipment meets RCL health and safety standards.Change Control: Document and manage all equipment and plant changes for audit purposes.Asset Management: Maintain and update the fixed asset register in line with policy and depreciation standards.Quality Assurance: Ensure project work meets high trade craftsmanship quality and food safety requirements.Supervision and Administration:Develop work schedules for new equipment activities.Manage planning and administrative functions within the engineering department.Efficiently manage capex budgets.Repairs and Renovations:Coordinate renovations of existing facilities and the construction of new facilities.Inspect and manage major contract work (electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, plumbing, etc.).Ensure adequate heating, lighting, and ventilation for the building.Safety and Security:Maintain a process control register to ensure food safety.Prepare and submit monthly PCC reports to the Group Engineering Manager.Qualifications and Skills:Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.5 years of trade experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.Strong understanding of mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical engineering.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including some weekends.Proven leadership and people management skills.Analytical, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset.High reliability, honesty, patience, and efficiency.Internal and External Interactions:Internal: Factory Manager, Engineering Manager, Plant Engineer, Planning Manager, Distribution Manager, Production Managers, Maintenance Managers, Engineering Staff.External: Contractors, Suppliers, Group R&D Engineers.Additional Requirements:Handle machinery-related problems and provide immediate solutions.Oversee General Assistants and identify training needs.Assist with disciplinary actions when necessary.Join us and be part of a team dedicated to excellence and innovation in engineering project management.
