Finance ManagerSandton, South AfricaOur client is looking for a Project Manager for their manufacturing plant.Job Summary:The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing projects related to the construction, expansion, and operational enhancement of a fertilizer manufacturing plant. This role involves managing budgets, timelines, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.The ideal candidate will have experience in project management within a manufacturing or industrial setting and possess strong leadership skills to drive efficiency and process improvements.Key Responsibilities:Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop and execute project plans for plant setup, expansion, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in alignment with business objectives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
2. Budget & Resource Management
  • Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor expenses and control costs while ensuring project profitability.
  • Manage resource allocation, including manpower, machinery, and materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and operational efficiency.
  • Contract management i.e. New Engineering Contract (NEC ECC)
3. Stakeholder & Team Coordination
  • Collaborate with plant engineers, production teams, and external contractors.
  • Communicate project status to senior management and stakeholders through regular reports and presentations.
  • Conduct regular project meetings and progress reviews.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure projects adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals from local authorities.
  • Implement industry best practices for safety and sustainability.
5. Quality Assurance & Process Optimization
  • Ensure all project activities meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee equipment installation and commissioning to ensure proper functioning.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the plant.
Required Qualifications & Experience:Key Requirements:Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial) or related field.
  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience in project management within a fertilizer, chemical, or manufacturing industry.
  • PMP / PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of fertilizer production processes, plant design, and construction.
  • Experience in handling EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, SAP).
  • Understanding of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations in industrial plants.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in the agricultural, chemical, or fertilizer manufacturing industry is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with budget management, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of South African labor laws, health and safety regulations, and compliance requirements is an advantage.
