Minimum 6 years experience working on national roads projects
Labour Intensive Construction NQF 5 qualification
Proficient in preparing programmes including monitoring, updating and tracking progress
Fully au fait with the COLTO and COTO Standard Specifications
Well versed with the various forms of general conditions of contract, experience with the GCC 2015 and FIDIC Contracts will be advantageous
Advanced Professional writing skills
Must be organised, practical, hardworking and diligent
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good administrative capabilities and report writing skills
The work will involve the following:
Carry out Conditional Survey or Assessment of the roads, prepare a report for such including the scoping report, prioritisation report and costing thereof including the implementation Programme, etc, then
Make Designs where necessary to respond to the conditional assessment after receiving a written instruction from a duly Delegated officials
Assist with the procurement of contractors to perform construction work arising in line with the Departments guidelines and instructions
Administration, supervision (where instructed), monitoring (where instructed) and managing works being undertaken by Contractors
Prepare reports for the Programme Manager and Department detailing project physical status, time related milestone and financial status
The Professional Engineering Service Providers will also work on an ad-hoc basis through an instruction to perform work (IPW) to be issued by the Head of Department or Senior General Manager Infrastructure and Regional Services or their Delegates
The Professional Engineering Service Providers will report to the Programme Manager and the responsible Department officials
Provide support and assistance to the relevant office, on instructions from the Responsibility Manager or his/her designee
Assist with road assessments and providing relevant information for classification and declaration purposes
Preparation of technical analysis, feasibility studies, designs, contract documentation, tender adjudication, contract supervision and preparation of completion plans and reports on a project-by-project basis
Assist with obtaining necessary environmental and Health and Safety approvals
Assist with the implementation of legislative requirements
Assist the Department in the performance of Health and Safety duties
Assist department with project planning and management
Prepare reports for the Programme Manager and Department detailing project physical status, time related milestone and financial status
All work to be done according to the standard Project Implementation and Management Plan (PIMP)
