CORE PURPOSE OF JOBResponsible for maintaining and implementing the quality management system (QMS) in accordance with ISO 17025 in the eNtsa testing laboratories, which provide testing services to industry clients and academic researchers/students. (Multiple labs including; Mechanical testing and battery testing (uYilo programme), Material Analysis, Metallurgical Analysis, novel testing techniques).KEY PERFORMANCE AREASQuality control management

• Maintain the quality management system, by system monitoring, implementation, documentation upkeep and review.
• Conducting audits.
• Training of employees on QMS.
• Oversee non-conformity
• Effective management of any support HR resources and/or interns.
• Communication between the laboratory and accreditation bodies (SANAS and other).
• Conduct management review meetings. Compliance assurance
• Monitor and enforce adherence to relevant quality standards, protocols and regulatory requirements within the laboratory.
• Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring the laboratory meet and exceeds quality standards and regulatory expectation.
• Arranging calibration and related services to uphold consistency and precision of test results.
• Coordinate general house-keeping actions.
• Communicate with customers and other external stakeholders on projects and processes in the lab. This includes formal communications of quotations, reports, retention notices, satisfaction surveys, etc.
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.
• Communicate effectively with staff, management and stakeholders with regards to quality-related matters. Support Laboratory functions.
• General assistance to the laboratory functions including: Test assistance, sample handling, equipment functioning, housekeeping, procurement, reporting, presentations.Application of technical skills Knowledge transfer
• Facilitate training of personnel and research students on quality assurance practices.
• Assist with training and knowledge transfer on quality assurance practices with students, external partners and stakeholders from time to time.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTSRequired Minimum Education: An M+3 Degree or National Diploma/Diploma in Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline. Formal training or further qualification on ISO17025 or ISO9001 with SANAS (or equivalent) on Quality Management System and internal auditing.Required Minimum Experience: 3 - 5 years in a quality assurance environment. Experience in a testing laboratory environment (material/mechanical).Desirable Additional Education, Work Experience and Personal Qualities: Additional quality based qualification.Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
