Our client, based in the East Rand, specialising in Mineral Processing & Machinery is currently seeking a Quality Inspector. The Quality Inspector will be responsible for ensuring all products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements by conducting inspections, tests, and audits, identifying non-conformities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
BEng/BTech in Physical Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
Alternative Qualification:
Diploma or equivalent certification in Metallurgy, Foundry Technology, or Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
Additional Advantage:
Certifications or specialized courses in Metallurgy or QA/QC.
Experience:
3-5 years in a quality inspection role within the foundry, metallurgy, or manufacturing industries.
Certifications
: ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification (essential).
Industry Knowledge:
Strong background in foundry and metallurgy.
Additional Requirements:
Own vehicle and a valid Driver's License.
Technical Skills
: Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Technical Requirements:
Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles and material properties.
Familiarity with foundry processes and casting inspection methods.
Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) and mechanical testing techniques.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Duties and responsibilities:
Conduct inspections on raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
Perform in-process inspections at foundries, including pattern evaluations, witnessing mechanical testing, and compiling root cause failure reports.
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards to verify product compliance.
Utilize appropriate tools and techniques for both dimensional and visual inspections.
Ensure strict adherence to ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
Engage in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conforming materials and products.
Accurately document and report inspection results, deviations, and defects to the Quality Manager.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to identify and resolve quality-related concerns.
Conduct internal audits and support external audits as required.
Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards, best practices, and compliance measures.
