Howdens core focus is on providing quality solutions for air and gas handling and has over a century of experience in doing so.Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced Quality & Welding Manager for a project at Tutuka Power Station for 18 months.The candidate will have responsibility of ensuring quality within the project which includes works undertaken by Howden and that of our suppliers, subcontractors and partners as required for the successful execution of our Project.What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will BeEnsure that the defined level of Quality is achieved by measuring, auditing, reporting on and by implementing the necessary actions to resolve quality and welding issues within the Project.Ensure that the Project Management Team understands the implications of the Contract requirements regarding Quality/welding and of its application in the local environment code and standards.Ensure that every Project team member has received adequate training of processes, tools and procedures applicable to meet the contractual project quality and welding requirements to keep the Cost of Poor quality as minimum as possible.Ensure all welding plans are in place and uphold during project duration.Ensure management of risk and opportunities arising from the quality requirement in the Contract.Produce project specific application procedures, work instructions, weld matrix, redline drawings and inspection and test plans (or QCPs).Ensures that QCI do daily surveillance inspections and report. The report must be communicated before the end of shift to the Site Manager and the Project quality manager for review and actioning.Regularly review the implementation of the Project Quality Plans and defined processes and tools within the project.Effective implementation of non-conformance, corrective action, and preventive action management processes.Ensure all welding sequences and welding process are in line with the requirements and updated during the projectResponsible to trigger root cause analysis and determine the effects and consequences of the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and to action claims against parties responsible to participate in implementing the necessary actions / lessons learnt.Hold project kick-off meetings to ensure the project quality requirements are communicated to all and implemented within the project.Participate in project reviews and ensures that quality control aspects are covered.Manages staff (QCI, NDT technicians, welding supervisors etc.), assigns tasks to the project quality personnel and coordinate all quality activities on the project.Always manages the conformity of the works ensuring that all organizational as well as client requirements and specifications are met.Developing and management of relationship with Customer, ensuring communication is clear and addressing issues effectively.Your Education Should BeMechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent.Welding & Fabrications Inspector Level 2 (SAIW) with welding experienceQuality Management internal auditor qualification or equivalent.Project management diploma.Your Professional Experience Should Be10 years experience in QA and QC within a big engineering project or manufacturing environment.Proficient in MS Office environment.Chart is an equal opportunity employer...This is an equal opportunity position.
