A Quantity Surveyor is required to render the full scope of quantity surveying duties pre- and/or post-contract while working in a QS capacity. Performs tasks and duties expected of an experienced quantity surveyor. Monitor Candidate Quantity Surveyors on projects and detailed tasks etc.
Technical Expertise
:
Undertakes responsibilities independently and/or under very general supervision, where work is reviewed for soundness of judgement and accuracy
Provides expertise and supervision utilizing more than one competence on projects of varying scope and complexity
Provides expertise and supervision with completing the measurement of quantities for input into cost plans, cost estimates and bills of quantities
Provides expertise and supervision with the preparation of tender documentation
Provides expertise and supervision with viability studies and cost estimates
Provides expertise and supervision with implementing, maintaining and monitoring cost control procedures throughout the duration of a project
Provides expertise and supervision with providing necessary input related to financial claims
Provides expertise and supervision with evaluating variations, additions and omissions, etc, and incorporating these into monthly cost reports
Provides expertise and supervision with preparing, pricing and negotiating change orders with clients and contractors
Complies with all QA requirements

Responsible for feasibility estimates, cost planning (presenting with no supervision), contract procurement, tender documentation, value engineering and commercial awareness, fee generation, dispute resolution, and post contract management (competent in cost reporting).

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in a QS role
Either a PrQS or Candidate QS
Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) from an accredited, recognized institution.
Experience in WinQS & DimX
Expertise in large-scale public sector; commercial or retail new builds.
Ability to handle difficult clients and run multiple projects independently
Proficient in Word, Excel and multi-media communications
Strong experience in public and private sector projects,
Good understanding of public sector procurement
Working knowledge of JBCC and other types of contracts
Able to mentor young professionals
Able to procure work from private sector clients and other professionals
Valid driver's license, own vehicle, and willingness to travel for project duties.
