Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to manage all cost aspects relating to the construction of projects, from initial calculations to final costing. The ideal candidate will focus on minimising costs of projects and enhancing value for money, whilst maintaining the required quality standards and meeting regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of statutory building / construction regulations, ensuring full compliance throughout the project life cycle which needs to be adhered to.Duties & Responsibilities:

• Managing costs on a wide variety of new building projects
• Undertaking costs analysis for projects
• Preparing early-stage budgets and detailed cost plans
• Performing risk and value management and cost control
• Advising on procurement strategy
• Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
• Preparing and analysing costings for tenders
• Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems
• Allocating work to subcontractors
• Negotiating to ensure budgets are not exceeded
• Providing advice on contractual claims
• Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
• Valuing completed work and arranging payments
• Developing knowledge relevant to contract conditions and their applications
• Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
• Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations

• Ability to produce high volume of work on time which is accurate and of high quality
• Interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong commercial acumen
• Knowledge of the applicable standards
• Excellent Organising, Planning and Innovation skills

• Completed tertiary degree (Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying (B.Sc) or a B.Tech qualification)
• 3 to 5 years work experience
• Member of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors
