Key Responsibilities:Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures, including MRI, CT, PET, ultrasound, mammography, and more.
Interpret imaging results and prepare comprehensive reports.
Collaborate with referring physicians and other medical professionals to communicate findings and make treatment recommendations.
Ensure patient safety by evaluating medical histories, explaining procedures, and obtaining informed consent.
Monitor quality control and maintain imaging standards to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
Coordinate radiological services with other healthcare departments to optimize patient care.
Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect both patients and staff from radiation exposure.Qualifications:Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
Completion of a two-year internship and one-year community service, as required in South Africa.
Completion of a four-year radiology residency at an accredited institution.
Certification by the College of Radiologists of South Africa or equivalent, specializing in diagnostic radiology.
Full registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Specialist Radiologist.
A minimum of 5 years of post-residency experience in a similar role.Preferred:
Fellowship or specialization in areas such as Interventional Radiology or Pediatric Radiology.
Radiation Protection Certifications from accredited bodies.Required Skills and Competencies:Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
Superior critical thinking and decision-making abilities for interpreting complex medical data.
Thorough understanding of medical terminology, treatment plans, and risk factors.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 kg as needed.
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and tele-radiology practices.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with advancements in radiology.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage daily workflow and patient schedules efficiently
