Assumes legal responsibility under the OHS Act, as the person responsible for safety of the refinery plant outside normal hours.
Acts as a bridge/focal point to other zones and other teams. Is self-sustaining and is an authorized gas tester and issues clearances. Prepares and executes LOTO and isolations. Performs refinery unit park actions; can execute the OMUTDE STF actions (SBM/Natcos interface management) outside of normal hours.
Plans and prepares for execution of future decon, de-inventorization, isolation and preparations for equipment removal or demolition.
Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications, Years of Work Experience:
3 years supervisory experience leading a team of
5 employees; alternatively, must have acted in a supervisory role * 10 years relevant petrochemical experience
Clearance Issuer certification & Authorized Gas Tester
Appointed Gas Safety Inspector (GSI) per OHSACt
Appointed in writing as an Acting Team Leader and completed TL OBLM training
Completed relevant electrical substation training
Fire crew membership will be added advantage
Key Accountabilities/Objectives:
Has a high level of knowledge about refinery operations and integration to provide expertise and operational support to all post May'23 zone activities.
Focal Point for facilitating operational zone support to all post May'23 zone activities.
Decides on priorities in case of emerging conflicts on work schedule.
Supervises the Operations Team and ensures that a good discipline is maintained.
Cultivating a positive spirit in the Ops team.
Develop the plant decon strategies and make safe for post May'23 work.
Prepare LOTO and isolation activities.
Ensure all equipment that is prepared for maintenance is isolated, drained and locked (LOTO) as per procedure.
Act as clearance certificate signatory as per OSH Act.
Conduct gas testing as required and sign clearance certificate as AGT signatory.
Ensure all unit safety checks are carried out as per routine task register.
Ensure that all operational and maintenance tasks within area of authority are carried out as per the SAPREF rules.
Conduct assurance checks.
Proactively identify threats and mitigate accordingly.
Ensure that relevant procedures are used.
Respond to incidents, hazardous conditions or emergencies encountered. Responsible for activating IMT if required.
Respond to HSEQ complaints.
Lead trouble shooting discussions.
Report incidents and conduct follow up investigations.
Always maintain good housekeeping.
Plan and organize resources to meet objectives.
Liaise with external and internal stakeholders.

Skills:
Good knowledge of SAPREF refinery integration and cross-zonal impacts.
Excellent knowledge of all work areas of the respective zone (proof of signoffs to be presented).
Knowledge and of understanding of HSSEms, PRODms, ISO 14000/9001.
Be recognized as having extensive experience, great depth of knowledge and often consulted regarding difficult situations.
Have demonstrated capacity to train and motivate others.
Be able to operate effectively under pressure and independently.
Be competent to lead problem analysis and find solutions.
Being an active BBS observer will be an added advantage
