Job Description


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / NQF level 4
  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management)
  • Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain management (e.g. SAPICS) would be advantageous
  • 5 - 6 Years relevant experience
  • Flexibility to travel nationally & internationally
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement R&D strategies aligned with company goals
  • Support Director in managing the R&D team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
  • Oversee research projects from conceptualization to product launch
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Production, Marketing) to ensure successful implementation of new products
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and determine and execute improved technologies used by Suppliers, Competitors, and Customers
  • Manage R&D budget and resources efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
  • Present R&D progress and results to senior management
  • Idea generation, research, planning, product costing and raw material sourcing
  • Identify and evaluate alternative for raw material and components Suppliers, both within South Africa and internationally, to optimize cost and quality
  • Conduct thorough assessments of potential suppliers, considering factors such as production capacity, quality control processes, and delivery reliability
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Department to establish and maintain relationships with high-quality, cost-effective Suppliers
  • Stay informed about global market trends and supply chain dynamics that may impact material sourcing and product development
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of procurement processes and best practices
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on procurement decisions, Supplier selection, and R&D initiatives
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses for new materials, technologies, or Suppliers
