Key performance areas:
Assist with clerical duties such as filing, organizing medical records, and data entry
Prepare and maintain patient charts and documentation as per unit protocols
Coordinate scheduling of appointments, meetings, and consultations for patients and staff
Assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities and therapeutic programs for patients
Maintenance of the database
Record observations and interactions with patients and families accurately and comprehensively
Collect and compile data and assist in the preparation of reports or presentations as requested by supervisors
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of patient rooms, common areas, and waiting areas
Restock supplies such as blankets, pillows, and toiletries to ensure patient comfort
Support with ensuring orderly patient flow
Ensure there is resources necessary to accomplish study procedures
Assist with study monitoring and preliminary analysis of data
Assist with the analysis of the data using data/statistical analysis software
Assist with preparation of reports, abstracts, manuscript, and presentation of research findings
Captures and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection and analysis of research data
Monitor timeframes and scope of activities as circumstances dictate
Co-ordinate and serve as point of contact between sites and sponsors (including face to face meetings with sponsors, e-mails, teleconferences, video conferencing, negotiations with suppliers, etc.)
Support adherence to protocols
Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum of 1 years experience
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Expertise in a statistical analysis package or aptitude/willingness to learn
Ability to communicate and write in English and isiZulu
Motivated and able to work well independently as well as part of a team
Assist handling multiple tasks and reporting to more than one researcher at any one time
