Job Description


Our esteemed client based in Roodepoort, Gauteng, is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research and Development Chemist to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and improving food and industrial products and processes, ensuring they meet the high standards and specific requirements of a diverse clientele. This role requires a deep understanding of food and industrial processes, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to environmental sustainability.Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Masters or Ph.D. preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 to 7 years of experience in R&D, preferably within the food and beverages industry)
  • Strong knowledge of surface chemistry, food science, or process engineering.
  • Proven track record of developing successful products and processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and chemical analysis software.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Valid ID
  • Valid License and own vehicle
  • Clear medical and criminal record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
Duties:
  • Conduct research to develop new formulations and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Improve existing products and processes to enhance performance, reduce costs, and increase sustainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and quality control to implement new processes and products.
  • Ensure all R&D activities comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in chemistry and related fields.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in scaling up laboratory processes to full production scale.
  • Conduct stability and performance testing of new and existing products.
  • Liaise with clients to understand their needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to chemical processes and products.
