Job Description

JOB PURPOSEDevelops, designs and improves new/existing products and manufacturing processes. Accountable for the building and testing of prototypes.JOB FUNCTIONDetailed design drawings and specifications are developed using CAD equipmentSpecifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data are reviewed and analysed to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followedEnsure developed products meet safety and quality standardsDesign scope for customised solution as per customer requirement, manage product certification and launch new products on time and in budgetOptimize existing equipment through the application of newer technologiesEnsure time to market is reduced where possible and project deliverables are achieved as per project requirementsConduct , manage and monitor trials for products, processes and prototypes as per project planDocument, review and update trial results in a scientific manner based on test resultsConsultation with colleagues/customers wrt design and development to ensure requirement and expectations are metConfer with customer representatives to review scope, cost, quality and risk requirements and provide feedback on product or process developmentEnsure spending is prioritised according to needs and can be justified against results, cost variances are reconciled to circumstance, designs are optimised to enable cost effective manufacture of products and Kaizens are controlled to ensure cost effective implementationGrade 12N6 Diploma in Technological discipline (Mechanical, electrical, Information Technology, Millwright/Tool and Die making)At least 5 years applicable experience in a similar industryA good communicator who pays attention to detail ,has relevant technical knowledge, who is cost conscious, quality orientated, actions safety awareness, with good problem-solving skills and is Innovative.Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
