To recruit study participants from the community/Wits RHI study clinics into a study and conduct data collection and research interviews
Contribute towards ongoing monitoring and administration of the study
Participate in the process of raising awareness about the study and creating a relationship between Wits RHI and the community
Location:
Tshwane (Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa), Gauteng
Key performance areas:
Promote studies and recruit participants by conducting presentations, one-on-one discussions and distributing study information (as applicable) at study sites and/or in communities
Address potential participants in accordance with recruitment targets and participant recruitment standard operating procedures (SOP)
Inform willing participants that participation in the study is voluntary
Conduct screening interviews to consenting participant to determine eligibility into study
Schedule appointments with eligible participants to attend research interviews at identified study sites
Conduct Informed Consent discussion according to site ICF SOP
Conduct surveys and/or interviews with study participants according to study schedule
Support data extraction from clinic registers, patient records or other relevant data sources as per study requirements/SOPs
Conduct and record in-depth interviews with recruited study participants
Support data capture and data quality control on sites
Engage with stakeholders and community members to provide information about the study
Liaise with the site manager, stakeholders and community members to identify and recruit key informants into the study
Address relevant concerns and misconceptions about the study with participants
Receive queries from participants and address or refer the queries to your line manager accordingly
Establishing a relationship of trust and respect with participants
Report on number of participants recruited on daily basis to team leader or project manager
Filing and archiving of participant informed consent forms, and other study documentation
Attend relevant internal and external meetings
Facilitate reimbursement for study participation, in collaboration with the HQ team
Keep a record of all work completed and ensure all documentation is stored in a secure and confidential manner
When needed, revisit source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data
Chair or take minutes of relevant meetings i.e., at recruitment meetings
Assist in networking with relevant stakeholders
Ensures that the study has relevant study materials (HREC approved) on site
Identify missing data, inconsistencies and/or errors and follow up or report it
Print relevant documentation and place in files (if applicable)
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self management
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities such as workshops, forums, conferences, etc.
Stay abreast with working trends by conducting weekly Clinic visits and assisting patients and caregivers
Participate, give input, and support ad hoc projects and initiatives
Required minimum education and training:
Degree in Social or Health Sciences, or equivalent
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 12 months working experience
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Experience in a health research environment
Fluent in English and language/s applicable to the study site
Experience conducting in-depth interviews or qualitative data collection
Certification in good clinical practice (GCP)
Empathetic with good communication and interpersonal skills
Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
Able to work independently and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Demands of the job:
Working within the department of health clinics is required and working after hours may be required from time to time
