Reserve Manager / Management Couple - SpringbokFull job descriptionNaries Namakwa Retreat, a thriving 7,000-hectare ecotourism destination located near Springbok in the Namaqualand region of the Northern Cape, seeks a passionate and experienced Reserve Manager / Management Couple to join our team.Following a significant expansion in 2006, Naries Namakwa Retreat is poised for further growth. We require a dynamic individual/couple to play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the reserve's operations, ensuring an exceptional experience for our guests while preserving the natural beauty of the environment.In this pivotal role, you will play a key role in ensuring our guests experience the pinnacle of South African hospitality amidst the wonders of nature. You will oversee all aspects of lodge operations, from guest relations and staff management to ensuring exceptional service and exceeding guest expectations.Responsibilities:Guest Experience & Service Excellence: Develop and implement strategies to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This includes overseeing reservations, check-in/check-out processes, guest activities, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their stay.Team Leadership & Development: Lead and motivate a team of staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment. Provide coaching and development opportunities for staff to cultivate their skills and ensure high levels of service.Financial Management: Oversee lodge budgets, including monitoring expenditure, controlling costs, and ensuring revenue growth.Marketing & Sales: Contribute to the lodge's marketing and sales efforts, working collaboratively with external partners to attract new guests.Inventory & Maintenance: Maintain an accurate inventory of lodge supplies and equipment. Oversee regular maintenance of the lodge facilities and ensure a well-maintained environment.Compliance & Regulations: Ensure the lodge adheres to all safety regulations, licensing requirements, and hospitality industry standards.Nature Conservation and Field Guiding: Share your knowledge and enthusiasm for the reserve's flora, fauna, history, and local people with our guestsComprehensive Maintenance: Conduct and oversee the maintenance of all reserve infrastructure, including vehicles, buildings, roads, windmills, pumps, fences, and more.Game Management: Oversee all aspects of managing a heard of around 50 Oryx and 60 Springbok.Development Initiatives: Lead the planning and implementation of exciting new projects like additional guest units, picnic areas, stargazing experiences, and expanded hiking/cycling trails.Staff Training and Development: Play a key role in training and empowering our staff, fostering a positive work environment and unlocking their full potential.Qualifications:Character and Personality Traits: We are seeking individuals with demonstrable integrity, discipline, initiative, high ethical values, a passion for people, and excellent interpersonal skills.Experience:Proven experience managing staff in a similar setting (nature reserve, farm, or resort)Experience hosting and guiding guests in an ecotourism environmentA strong understanding of sustainable farming practicesBasic maintenance skills are a plusBenefits:Competitive salary and benefits packageThe opportunity to live and work in a stunning natural environmentBe part of a passionate team dedicated to conservation and responsible tourism
