Job SummaryHire Resolve is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Resident Engineer to join our client's reputable company in Randburg, South Africa.Fixed Term PositionClosing Date: 30/6/2024We are looking for a Resident Engineer (Structural) with substantial site experience to oversee activities for a 12-storey commercial building project. The role involves extensive interaction with the client and ensuring all site operations meet project requirements.Responsibilities

• Observe and assess the work progress, inspect materials and craftsmanship, and obtain necessary information from the contractor.
• Relay communications between the Engineer and contractor, both verbally and in writing.
• Inspect the works to ensure they adhere to the contract specifications.
• Witness and evaluate tests and mock-ups conducted onsite and offsite.
• Arrange for the collection of all test certificates.
• Ensure adherence to plans and specifications, reviewing completed work before enclosure or final completion.
• Continuously review work procedures and materials used in construction.
• Provide technical interpretations of plans and specifications to the contractor as needed.
• Verify quantities for payment certifications.
• Attend regular site progress meetings and technical discussions.
• Prepare proactive estimates for proposed changes, aiding Client and Engineer decision-making.
• Assist in resolving contractual and financial disputes raised by the contractor

Requirements

• Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Membership in a relevant professional body, preferably registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng).
• At least 10 years of full-time site experience specifically in commercial building projects, which is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
• Strong record-keeping abilities and experience in Quality Assurance (QA).
• Highly organized with excellent planning and management skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, along with strong communication and report-writing abilities.
• Demonstrated capabilities in project management, client liaison, and consulting.
