Location: Port Edward Eastern CapeREPORTS TO: Function ManagerPRIMARY POSITION PURPOSEWe are currently seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer located on our Mtentu Bridge projectKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The ARE will be responsible for the following elements of the construction works under his/her responsibility, but is not limited to the following:As the ARE you will assist with contract administration for this project.Reviewing the construction drawings and managing the processes of dealing with Contractor queries by liaising with the designers through the required communication lines.Inspection of the works and test results for quality control.Preparing and updating estimates to completion.Maintaining records of site administration and communication in terms SMECs quality management system and Construction Manual.Attending and contributing to taking minutes at technical and site meetings.Maintaining monthly progress reports.Liaison with clients and contractors and Managing resources for site supervision.Monitoring of quality of works and Monitoring of programme and contract budgets.Handling claims and Preparation of variation orders.Participate in stakeholder engagementClosing out projects including compiling completion/closeout reports; andMonitoring of Environmental Management Programs for theRECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:A minimum B.Sc, B Tech (or equivalent) in Civil is required.PR. Eng will be advantageousAt least 4 years experience in road and construction projects.Assistant Resident Engineer should have extensive experience in the use and interpretation of major conditions of contract and in managing contractual issues.(Experience with General Conditions of Contract 2015 will be advantageous.)He/she must be fluent in spoken and written English.We believe that a diverse workforce is essential to our business success.
