KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:To make observations and measurements and to collect data about rock conditions/ rock mechanics of the workplace to enable interpretation
and recommendations to the mining department. To conduct strength and compression test analysis for strata control purposes. To compile,
implement and review risk assessments and procedures and COPs (rock related). Assist rock engineer in performing tasks, live the company values, which includes but not limited to:Strata control inspectionsIncident investigationRock engineering inputGeotechnical dataSlope stability analysisRadar monitoringLimit blast quality assurance/ quality controlMining control of special areasCompile, implement and review risk assessments and proceduresContinuous improvementRock engineering software and numerical modellingInternal and external stakeholder relationshipsSHERQ adherence and complianceWork EthicsQUALIFICATIONSBachelor of Science/ B Tech in Rock Engineering / Geology / Mining (NQF level 7)Rock Mechanics certificate (At least two papers)National Certificate in Strata Control (Accredited by Chamber of Mines) NQF level 3EXPERIENCEMinimum of three (3) years operational strata control experience in an opencast mining environmentMinimum of five (5) years operational strata control experience in a mining environmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIESComputer literacyMS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (basic user)Risk management discipline( Functional) specific software /Tools (Basic user)Discipline specific software and tools (basic user of MicroStation, DatamineMap3D, D Block etc. or equivalent)Rock science suite, Flac and other relevant software and digital interfacesFunctionalRock Engineer, Mining and MRM Business processes, Mine health System Act, Explosive Act,( other legal) Hazard identification and risk assessment skills National water Act (other Legal) functional understanding of IWULA Waste Management and Environmental Monitoring requirementsCommunicationCoping with pressureAttentions to detailTeamworkAnalyticalBusiness acumen/ Commercial awarenessOTHER REQUIREMENTSMedically fitMeet required medical fitness standardsDrivers licenseValid Code C1 driver''s license
