Rock Engineering Manager - Phakisa - Bloemfontein, Free StateFull job descriptionListing reference: hgld_000160Listing status: OnlinePosition summaryIndustry: Mining & QuarryingJob category: DrillingContract: PermanentRemuneration: Market RelatedEE position: NoIntroductionCarry the legal appointment for the shaft in terms of sect 14.1(6) and 141(8) of the MH&S Actin (1996) and rendering a specialist service to the Mancom teamCompile, update and amend the COP in combating rock fall- and rock burst accidents according to the latest regulatory mandate/guidelines set out by DMRE.Ensure compliance with the operation COP in combating rock falls and rock bursts accidentsApply rock engineering principles and best practice to the life of mine of the operation to ensure the production capability and capacity of the shaft is safely optimisedManage and oversee Rock Eng department by establishing their KPIs and overseeing delivery and quality of their workScrutinize and assist in developing the life of mine plans from a production and safety perspective, including studies into life of mine extensionEnsure that the underground workings and infrastructure are routinely assessed by competent persons as per COP and that all rock eng principles have been considered, ensuring underground activities are conducted as safely as practicable from a rock mass stability point of viewEnsure adequate coverage, sensitivity, accuracy, maintenance and expansion of the seismic network as required by the operations COPDevelop, implement, monitor and ensure compliance to formal routines or expectationsand optimize all systems related to Rock Eng departmentLiaise with relevant stakeholders, regarding Rock Eng related matters.
