DescriptionProcessEnsure Compliance with the legal requirements in respect of health,Safety and Environment as specified in the Minerals &Regulations and the Mine Health Safety Act.Assist with conducting Baseline Risk Assessment, and ensuringcontrols are implemented.Attend daily management meetings.Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safetymanagement system and standard operating procedures inaccordance with relevant regulations and industry standards.Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards,assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.Conduct Health and Safety meetings and provide guidance andsupport to supervisors and employees on safety procedures, safework practices, and the use of personal protective equipment(PPE).Conduct regular meetings and training sessions to disseminateinformation, share best practices, and engage employees inSHERQ initiatives.Investigate large scale incidents, accidents, and near misses,identify root causes, conduct risk analysis, and develop strategiesto prevent reoccurrence.Review team inspection and investigation reports and analysecorrective actionsDevelop and deliver safety training programs to increase safetyawareness and promote a proactive safety cultureDevelop and implement health management programs andawareness workshops to address occupational health hazards,including exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and other potentialrisks in line with ISO standards.Facilitate quality training programs to enhance the safety culture,understanding and implementation of quality standards across theorganization.Coordinate medical surveillance programs and ensure compliancewith health monitoring requirements for employees.Collaborate with healthcare professionals and external stakeholdersto address health-related concerns and promote employee wellbeing.Collaborate with operational teams to identify processimprovements, reduce waste, and enhance overall product quality.Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with relevantlaws, regulations, and permits.Monitor the change management process from a safety perspectiveand ensure compliance to company standardsCoordinate emergency drills and test alarms to ensure thatemergency preparedness and response is adequate and currentManage Contractors and ensure their adherence to plant safetyRegulationsFinanceDevelop SHERQ cost effective budget in collaboration withGeneral Manager for related servicesStakeholder RelationshipsProvide relevant information to the Heads of department concerningplant/Mine incidents.Communicate and update General Manager on incident solutionsand closureCommunicate effectively with employees, contractors, regulatoryagencies, and other stakeholders to ensure clear understanding ofSHERQ requirements and expectationsPeopleProvide leadership, guidance, and support to the SHERQ team andcollaborate with other departments to promote a culture of safety,health, environmental responsibility, and quality excellence.Ensure adequate response time to incident reports.Participate in planned activities that are appropriate for owndepartmentDisplay and encourage teamworkReportingPrepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies and seniormanagement regarding SHERQ performance, incidents,investigations, and compliance status.Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety,health, environmental, and quality management activities.Participate in external audits and inspections and manage theimplementation of corrective actions.Complete Department Minerals and Resources injury on duty (IOD)forms and report on any incidenceMinimum Skills and Qualifications
