Job Summary Purpose of the Job/Job MissionTo promote the prevention of injuries to personnel, damage to facilities, materials and equipment in order to achieve a safe and healthy working environment within the Companies areas of operations and activities.Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesOperations:
The Safety Manager should be familiar with and possess the ability to confidently:

  • Support the Project Managers commitment to a Zero Accident safe working environment in accordance with the company and project Safety programmes, specifications, legal HSE requirements and obligations.
  • Organise and coordinate, supervise Safety Supervisor Site activities, assignment and performance.
  • Interact directly with the Client on a regular and professional basis.
  • Demonstrate proven man management skills.
  • Write and transmit Safety reports to the Project Manager, Client and Safety Manager HO.
  • Implement Health, Safety & Environmental Program.
  • Impart training to construction staff.
  • Prepare Hazard Identification Plan/Activity Hazard Analysis.
  • Implement safety matters for Building & Civils and Oil, Gas & Petrochemical Projects.
  • Create awareness of safety among the construction staff and work force.
  • Identify, evaluate and control safety, health and environmental hazards.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and monitor safety performance.
  • Prepare and implement procedures and plans. Example; excavation, confined space entry, working at height, fire protection, medical services, emergency, evacuation etc.
  • Compile accident statistics.
  • Implementation the use of personal protective Safety equipment (PPE) within the work force.
  • Investigate incidents/accidents and take remedial measures to avoid recurrences.
  • Attend project safety meetings and present reports.
  • Monitor and modify safety techniques to achieve zero injury, zero accident and zero accident.
  • Inspect the work site daily and correct unsafe methods and conditions.
  • Keep a record daily and report to the Safety Manager / Supervisor when necessary.
  • Carry out site surveys and inspections to see that only safe work methods are in operation, health and safety requirements are being observed.
  • Welfare and first aid facilities are adequate and properly maintained.
  • Determine the cause of any accidental occurrence and recommend measures to prevent recurrences.
  • Suggest and implement ways to prevent injury to personnel, damage to site facility or equipment and fires.
  • Implement Safety procedures.
  • Stop works in the event of unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Ensure entire Safety team are conducting regular Risk Assessments for tasks.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to work force and staff in regards to Safe Work practices and requirements.
  • Attend and pass Client interviews.
  • Continually improve personal knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental issues.
  • Co-ordinate with project personnel as directed by the Project Manager or Safety Manager HO.
  • Report Safety issues through the established project communication protocol.
  • Ensure the Camp accommodation is regularly inspected and identified HSE deficiencies are acted on and rectified.
  • Implement the Companies OSHAS 18001:2008 safety management system along with specific Client project requirements.
  • Conduct regular HSE site audits.

  • Follow all relevant HSE policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices and the improvement of productivity.
  • Promote the implementation and adherence to policies, processes and operating procedures to others.
Safety, Health and Environment:
  • Comply with all relevant safety, health and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Participate in incident and accident investigations as required in line with agreed safety, health and environment policies, procedures and controls.
  • Report on changes within the company that impact relevant safety, health and environmental management policies, procedures and controls

Position Requirements - Education, Experience, Competencies
Educational Requirements
Mandatory:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • English language skills
  • Computer literate
Desirable:
  • A degree or equivalent
  • Diploma (fire and safety) or equivalent
  • Hold an internationally recognized certification including OSHA and other certifications, such as NEBOSH, IOSH.
  • Hold OSHAS 18001:2008 auditor accreditation.
Experience
Mandatory:
  • Total 10 years of experience with at least 5 years experience in a similar capacity.
Desirable:
  • Middle East experience.
