Job Description


FREE STATE - National wholesaler with their head office based in Somerset West, has a vacancy for an outgoing, enthusiastic, motivated Sales Representative with at least three - five years relevant experience to take responsibility for the entire Free State and Lesotho areasRequirements:

  • Experience in selling to hardware and other DIY or specialised stores as a sales representative physically visiting these customers. Applicants without this experience will be not be considered;
  • 3 - 5 Years experience as a Sales Representative for a wholesaler or manufacturer in the plumbing, sanitary ware or other hardware industries;
  • Matric;
  • Valid drivers license and reliable own transport and willing to travel to customers on a daily basis;
  • Clear credit and criminal record;
  • Must be presentable and acceptable to customers;
  • Must be willing to work under pressure;
  • Sound and proven track record of meeting sales targets;
  • Must be outgoing and not a clock watcher;
  • Numerical ability including calculation of profit, margins and selling prices;
  • Strong proven record of closing profitable sales deals.
  • Computer literate in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fully bilingual and excellent communication skills written and verbal (English)
Duties will include but not limited to:
  • Ensure sales targets are met and exceeded by:
  • Actively targeting potential new customers;
  • Weekly cold calling and canvassing;
  • Actively looking for new sales opportunities;
  • Presenting and selling company products to customers close the deal;
  • Servicing of existing customers through visits and calls to ensure sales growth;
  • Keep in touch and follow up with existing and prospective customers to see if they have any additional needs or concerns;
  • Following up on deliveries to customers with the warehouse, transporter and the customers and establish if they were completely satisfied with the service and products, thereby ensuring that the sale was successfully completed. Give feedback to sales management in the event that customers were not completely satisfied in order for management to address the situation regarding products, dispatching or deliveries;
  • Preparing accurate quotations and supporting documentation and presenting proposals to existing and new customers;
  • Actively promoting and selling new product lines when they are launched and providing feedback to sales management regarding sales initiatives relating to the new product lines.
  • Develop a clear understanding of competitors, their priorities and their competitive strengths;
  • Give feedback to sales management in this regard;
  • Control of expenses;
  • Processing of own customers orders;
  • Assist customers with store layouts and merchandising;
  • Understand that our business is built on customer satisfaction and devote yourself to guaranteeing satisfaction to customers;
  • Determine each customers needs by means of a full needs analysis and tailoring product / service to meet specific customer needs;
  • Complete all required office administration efficiently;
  • Submit required weekly and monthly feedback reports;
  • Assist the debtors department if required, by also following up on overdue accounts which are preventing new sales as well as claims;
  • Liaise with all necessary parties for example, finance, operations, internal sales, logistics etc. to ensure a smooth and successful service;
  • Actively take part in communication campaigns, marketing and advertising initiatives, and trade shows;
  • Evaluate success of marketing campaigns and promotions by customer and give feedback to sales management;
  • Attend sales or other meetings and stock takes at the office, when required;
  • Prepare a sales budget for your customers or region;
  • Adhere to all company policies, SOPs and relevant legislation
