Advert Reference:P6896 Scientist in Charge: NRL Specialised Chemistry - CenturionJob Title: Scientist in Charge: NRL Specialised Chemistry - CenturionClosing Date: 2024/08/14Position Available From: 2023-07-24Area: Ampath National Reference LaboratoryActual Place Of Work: Ampath National Reference LaboratoryPosition Type: Full-TimeWeekly Hours: 40Time Conditions: 5 day Work Week (South Africa)Purpose of Position: To prepare, analyse, result and storage of routine and urgent specimens in the Specialised Chemistry LaboratoryRequirements: BSc Hons/ MSc/ PhD (Chemical Pathology/ Biochemistry/ Pharmacology) (Required), Registered as Medical Scientist/ Intern Medical Scientist (Clinical Biochemistry) with the HPCSA (Required)Required Experience: Accreditation experience, Experience in method development / validations / evaluations, Experience in pathology laboratory environment, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: MS Excel, Knowledge: MS WordKey Responsibilities: Assist with Laboratory Accreditation in order to ensure best practices are upheld, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Maintain good laboratory practice in order to ensure a clean and safe work environment, Method development, validation & optimisation in order to ensure continuous development in new and improved laboratory processes, Oversee and assist with the daily operations in the sections including training in order to ensure efficient processing of specimens.

• Technical application with the focus on method optimisation & troubleshooting on LC-MS-MS, GC-MS, HPLC & ICP-MS
• Technical training on analysts, Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory, Use laboratory computer system in order to ensure accurate processing of specimen requests and to provide assistance with result enquiries
