Job Description


JOB DESCRIPTION:To manage and coordinate sea freight forwarding operations and vessel bookings, ensuring efficient and timely transportation of goods.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Operational Management

  • Coordinate and manage sea freight forwarding operations from booking to delivery.
  • Book and arrange vessel space with shipping lines and agents.
  • Negotiate freight rates and terms with carriers and service providers.
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, customs declarations, and cargo manifests.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that arise.
Customer Service
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and providing updates on shipment status.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints or issues related to sea freight and vessel bookings.
  • Liaise with customers to understand their shipping requirements and provide suitable solutions.
Communication
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the company, shipping lines, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain effective communication channels to facilitate the flow of information regarding bookings and shipments.
Operational Support
  • Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage and maintain records of all vessel bookings, shipments, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and port authorities to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
Reporting
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on sea freight operations, vessel bookings, and shipment statuses.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to sea freight forwarding and vessel management.
Specific Requirements for the PositionEssential:
  • Proven experience in sea freight forwarding, vessel booking, or a similar role within the supply chain and logistics industry.
  • Strong understanding of sea freight operations, shipping documentation, and vessel booking procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with carriers and service providers.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook) and knowledge of freight forwarding software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
  • Experience working with international shipping lines and agents.
  • Familiarity with customs regulations and import/export procedures.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and resolve problems efficiently.
