  • Consistently apply Safety, Health and Environmental principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Act as a role model and reinforce a workplace culture where safety and health for the site are paramount.
  • Provide an environment for on-site teams to challenge and act on unsafe behaviours without repercussions.
  • Ensure a comprehensive approach to risk management and safety within the working area, which includes identifying and mitigating specific risks, monitoring critical controls, integrating safety practices into daily work routines, assessing safety leadership and team fitness, conducting safety checks, analysing safety data, addressing deficiencies, and ensuring adherence to safety systems through audits and site visits.
  • Active participation in VFLs, Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.
  • Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the geology and mineralisation of the mining and its surrounding areas.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of an exploration strategy that supports the Life of Mine (LOM) plan and identifies the most promising areas for exploration.
  • Plan and allocate resources such as equipment and manpower based on project requirements.
  • Manage contractors according to the terms of their contracts while ensuring that all relevant standards and deviations are addressed.
  • Utilize appropriate exploration methods to execute the strategy to a level that can be handed over to Production Geology.
  • The Work: Key Outputs and Accountabilities
  • Generate representative geological, geometallurgical, and structural information following KIO protocols.
  • Ensure that geological data adheres to relevant standards and that the database is validated and signed off.
  • Review the geological 3D solids model created as per Geodata's standards through peer review.
  • Seek advice from the senior specialist in geometallurgy on the appropriate methodology and frequency for acquiring metallurgical data.
  • Consult with the Principal Exploration Geology to explore and test alternative data acquisition methods.
  • Apply current scientific research in the exploration environment to ensure effectiveness.
  • Conduct and review mine scale structural interpretations annually or as needed.
  • Analyse geometallurgical data to understand statistical and spatial variability.
  • Develop site-specific proxies for geometallurgical test results to enhance accuracy.
  • Acquire and report geological data for specific projects to support the KIO project office.
  • Assist with the execution of geosciences-related projects.
  • Generate a report for prospecting rights.
  • Provide a detailed report on the database handover.
  • Budget and Cost Control Management
  • Ensure effective cost control and savings by managing the section's expenditure within the approved budget.
Uphold sound financial practices by managing project expenditure. (TBC)Qualifications
  • BSc in Geology/Geosciences
  • BSc Hons in Geology/Geosciences
  • SACNASP (Full) Registration
  • Valid SA Drivers License Code
ExperienceTechnical Knowledge
  • At least five years of operational experience within Geology in an Exploration environment.
  • Managerial exposure is recommended.
  • Advanced knowledge of Projects and Operations.
  • Geology knowledge for mineral exploration, projects, and mining operations.
  • Prioritizes safety, health, environment, and community policies in project planning.
  • Collects and manages geoscientific data with completeness, traceability, and security.
  • Applies geophysical and geochemical techniques to model geoscientific data and increase model confidence.
Delivers geoscientific projects effectively by following project management standards.Additional InformationWho we are
