Ivanplats is looking for a Security Manager Operations IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this mine of the future. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.Play your part in our team succeeding...This role is the most Senior Protection Service role dedicated to an Operation and reports directly to the General Manager on issues relating to security risk management for the operation. the role is accountable to the General Manager for all issues relating to the management and optimisation of Security Service for Ivanplats.
The role needs to initiate appropriate strategies, policies and systems within the Operation to minimize risks relating to the security of employees and assets. The role has a management focus to lead the Security Service team within the operation towards industry best practices and to integrate team outputs with the work of other discipline in the operation.Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• National Diploma in Security Management or Equivalent
• B Tech in Security Management or equivalent NQF level 7 (Degree) qualification will be advantageous
• Handle and use a Shotgun for Business Purposes
• Handle and use a Handgun for Business Purposes
• Handle and use a Self-loading Rifle for Business Purposes
• PSIRA Armed responses course
• PSIRA Bullion Cash in Transit (as per operational requirement)
• Registered with the PSIRA on grade A
• Valid drivers license code B
• Tactical firearms qualification will be advantageous

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• Minimum 8 years' experience in security or equivalent environment with exposure in Investigation/Crime Information analysis/ Information gathering and Surveillance
• 5 years' experience in security management

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:Overall Management of the Security Services in the operation to achieve targets including expert advice and the implementation of best practice systems

• Direct, plan and coordinated work for the Security Services team through effective liaison with Operation Management and the General Manager.
• Effective planning for the Security Services department in the operation.
• Continuously liaise with the Operation Manager on business strategy and policies and day to day developments
• Monitoring security indicators and trends in the organization and identifying optimization proposals
• Ensure availability of the necessary resources
• Monitoring and advising on Security Services equipment, techniques and methodologies to support business initiatives
• Develop contingency plans to ensure that the operation is protected from risk
• Identify security technologies and approaches that would be effective for the operation
• Identify, promote and communicate best practices applicable to the role through benchmarking other organizations
• Identify and manage investigations requiring expert advisors or dedicated teams
• Interpret the impact of changes to relevant legislation
• Effectively co-ordinate investigation leading to convictions
• Monitor and build relationships with the community and local law enforcement agencies
• Implement and manage information gathering systems within the operation to support management decision making for the protection of assets and employees
• Verify gathered information
• Advise management on effective risk management approaches
• Liaise effectively with expert support to ensure that management is aware of Regional or National issues that could impact on the security risks of the operation
• Monitor the stakeholder perception of Security Services
