Job Description


A group managing stunning properties in the travel industry is looking for a SENIOR ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT/ BOOKKEEPERCandidate Requirements:

  • Applicants must have at least 2-4 years experience as a Senior Accounts Assistant within the hospitality industry
  • Matric is a minimum requirement, but a further qualification is beneficial
  • Valid RSA ID
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially with Good to Advanced, Excel Skills, Pastel, VIP Payroll
  • Good understanding of Hospitality PMS system and OPERA
  • Assist Finance Managers, Operations Managers, and General Managers in budgeting, program development, and setting objectives for efficient hotel operations
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly returns accurately and on time, following company standards
  • Process supplier invoices, liaise with suppliers, and resolve queries
  • Manage accruals and prepayments related to accounts payable, and reconcile petty cash
  • Verify F&B receiving against purchases, ensure invoices match POs and receipts, and reconcile the Aged Accounts Payable report with the general ledger
  • Reconcile and balance cash, floats, and dockets to match daily income and expenditure
  • Complete monthly payroll and third-party statutory payments; VIP payroll system knowledge is advantageous
  • Prepare monthly payroll journal and handle debtor processing, reconciliation, and collection
  • Notify management immediately of any variances or discrepancies
  • Ensure accurate documentation for the receipt and issuing of commodities
  • Report shortages, surpluses, or irregularities and handle queries promptly
  • Assist with stocktaking and process stocktaking figures accurately and timely
  • Securely and systematically keep petty cash vouchers and relevant documentation
  • Ensure control systems are operating effectively within agreed parameters
  • Prepare and present monthly financial packs to the Finance Manager for finalization
  • Compile and highlight variances and discrepancies in monthly financial reports
  • Adhere to financial manuals and checklists
  • Ensure unit admin staff understand their expected results
  • Oversee training and development within the units admin departments
  • Manage day-to-day financials with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong leadership and commercial acumen
