To be accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. To enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
Key Performance Indicators for this role (but not limited to):
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of a supporting structure adequate for recording and processing day-to-day transactions to achieve the department's goals and objectives.
Provide leadership and mentoring to all staff in the finance department, ensuring they are adequately skilled and trained to achieve success in their respective roles. Manage and ensure that all accounting processes and procedures are followed to ensure that the department goals are met.
Develop and drive Continuous improvement and Culture of saving.
Ensure critical accuracy of information, whether captured or reported and instill these into the team culture.
Job Summary
Accounting Management:
Ensure an effective and functioning financial department.
Oversee all output of reporting staff to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Oversee inter/intra-company transaction-processes, policies and procedures.
Manage the ERP system (Syspro) master data and set-up of CoA, AR, AP.
Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements.
Transactional Duties:
Ensure that Accounts Payable are paid timeously and that all reasonably discounts are taken.
Ensure that Accounts Receivable are collected promptly, and that it is accurately recording / allocating the remittances and required reconciliations and corrective entries.
Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
Efficient management of daily Cash Management System.
Maintain the following: Chart of accounts; Control measures related to accounting transactions; Effective accounting filing system; etc.
Load, prepare and / or approve bank transactions (co-functionality with the CEO)
Oversee maintenance of filing / return Documents / PODs by Office Administrator / Reception.
Calculate, Raise and Reconcile the following: Provisions for bonus and leave pay; Normal and Deferred taxes and VAT; Depreciation, Amortisation and General provisions and accruals; etc.
Any ad-hoc duties as required by the CEO, or management team.
Reporting:
Prepare and issue timely and complete annual financial statements (AFS) in accordance with IFRS and present to external auditors for sign-off.
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics and forecasts, including Profit-and-Loss, Inventory and Financial Ratios.
Provide Weekly balance sheet exposure reports.
Provide weekly reporting on Turnover and Cost of Sales as well as age analysis reports for Debtors and Creditors and Inventory, Cashflow Forecasts, Financial Risks etc.
Provide financial analysis as needed and prepare presentation for reporting to management meetings including quarterly Board packs and monthly reports (including intercompany balances, management accounts and forecasts).
Any ad-hoc reporting as required.
Compliance and Accountabilities:
Ensure compliance with minimum requirements of group internal audit standards.
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the quarterly audit.
Initiate credit check where needed and ensure All new accounts are vetted against Fraud.
Validate Bank Accounts where changes are requested.
Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
Comply with regulatory and government reporting requirements.
Management of B-BBEE Compliance and reporting.
Ensuring Adherence to POPIA.

Qualifications and Experience:
Relevant Financial Degree
Demonstrated knowledge related to Accounting and Enterprise Systems, Taxation legislation, etc.
Minimum of 5 years relevant experience within a similar role
